Sugar and How It Affects You!

1.  Sugar gives empty calories--no vitamins, minerals, or fiber--yet it requires these nutrients in order to be digested.

2.  Sugar is a concentrated energy source, devoid of fiber.  This causes a tendency to overeat.

3.  Sugar inhibits your white blood cells ability to fight infection.  This decreases your resistance to disease.

4.  Sugar increases dental decay if it remains on your teeth.

5.  Sugar is rapidly converted in the blood to fat (triglycerides) increasing obesity, risk of heart disease and diabetes.

Suggestions for controlling sugar intake:

1.  Do not put sugar on the table.  Try using raisins, dates or some other dried fruit for a natural sweetener.

2.  Be sparing with all concentrated sweeteners such as Sucanat,®  molasses, barley malt, honey, or date sugar.

3.  When using a dessert high in calories, plan to use it as the main dish.

4.  Build up a supply of dessert recipes that use little or no sugar.  In many desserts, the quantity of sugar used can be cut in half and the dessert will still taste sweet.

5.  Don't purchase breakfast cereals where sugar is the first ingredient listed.

6.  Avoid desserts that use milk, sugar, and eggs together.  This mixture may cause fermentation.

7.  Let desserts be special, not served every day.  Try fruit desserts made without sugar.

8.  When serving juice, use unsweetened fruit juice rather than the heavily sugared ones.

9.  Use only fruit canned in its own juices rather than fruit canned in heavy syrup.

10.  Try sweetening with apple juice concentrate rather than white sugar.  However, keep in mind, apple juice concentrate is also a sugar (fructose) and has calories.

11.  Do not eat candy or other sweets between meals.

12.  Do not use sweets as a reward.

Chromium Picolinate and why it helps.  Chromium is an essential trace mineral absolutely required by humans for good health; it is involved in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Chromium stimulates the activity of enzymes involved in the metabolism of glucose for energy and the synthesis of healthy fatty acids and cholesterol. Scientific studies suggest that it may also help in the regulation of glucose levels and metabolism of fats.

We strongly recommend Mineral Rich.
